Unit 8 Discussion

This weeks discussion question did have me sitting there biting my nails trying to figure out how to reword my paragraph using the paramedic method.  I sat there for a good hour trying to figure out what words to omit and which ones to put in.  I now know why I don't want to be a writer when I grow up.  I know I do not have the patience for writing.  But I have enjoyed gathering the information.  I also enjoy reading other peoples writings.  I didn't do to well on the discussion for last week and I feel a lot of that is due to the fact that I don't like to critique anothers work when I am not comfortable writing and disecting my own.

  1. Stop. Do not chew your nails. Use your highlighter to mark prepositions, be and have verbs. This is what the paramedic method is all about, having a road map to revise sentences, rather than chewing your nails trying to figure it out without guidelines.

Highlight prepositions, is, are, was, were, be, been, have, has, had, had been, having, being.

See how you can rearrange your sentence to leave as many of these out and still keep sense for the sentence. You will be amazedQ!
